  1. I don't know much about this stuff - most of the brain things I've learned have been through my Grade 12 Biology class (which I took when I was 26) and through Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children books.
Now I realize that those books are fiction, but Ms. Auel has done an imperial shit ton of research into her story. The part of the story dealing mostly with Neanderthals (Clan of the Cave Bear) describes the workings of their brain - the racial memory they may have had, and how their brains developed differently than Cro Magnon brains. When Ayla and Broud produce Durc (The child of "mixed spirits") his head has her high forhead, but also Broud's large development (I forget what it's called). Ayla had difficulty giving birth because Durc's head was too big for her pelvis. Anyways. I don't know if this is what you were asking about, but I thought maybe you would be interested.
